Acorn acquires Midlands’ Childrens’ Homes

Acorn Care and Education, the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist education, foster care and residential care for vulnerable and hard to reach children, has acquired Pathway Care Solutions, a children’s residential care home business across the East Midlands.

Established in 2005, the Acorn group’s acquisition of Pathway Care Solutions is the latest step forward in its successful growth strategy, which has seen Acorn become one of the largest providers in the country of high quality care and education services for children and young people.

Dr Natalie-Jane Macdonald, chief executive of Acorn Care and Education, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pathway Care Solutions (PCS) to our group. Pathway Care Solutions is focused on delivering outstanding service and outcomes for children and young people, and has an excellent track record of success with three Ofsted Outstanding and nine Good homes. We intend to build on this success and further expand Acorn’s specialist residential homes provision.”

Based in Nottingham, Pathway Care Solutions currently operates 12 homes around Nottingham and Sheffield and has established an enviable track record in delivering high quality, child-centric residential care for young people, aged between eight and 21 years.

It offers medium to long term placements, aftercare, reception and assessment, shared and domiciliary care within small, three-bedded homes for children who have complex learning disabilities requiring continuing care, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ACS), severe physical disabilities and social and

emotional behavioural difficulties.

Dr Anib Rehman, managing director at Pathway Care Solutions, said:

“Pathway Care Solutions (PCS) looked carefully at the wider independent care and education sector to find an ideal partner, whose shared values and focus on meeting the needs of some of our most vulnerable children and young people very much chimes with what PCS have always been about. We also believe that integrating PCS into the wider portfolio of the Acorn Care & Education group will provide a stable foundation for future growth and service diversification.”
