Are you a Class Teacher committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for an amazing teacher to join our fantastic team at Heath Farm School. As Class Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.

This is a great opportunity for a Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

When it comes to looking after our children, we never settle for second best. We are looking for a Class Teacher experienced in teaching a range of subjects and who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK to be happy and to make their way in the world.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN/ASC environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

Educated to degree level and of Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.

About us:

It is an exciting time to join Heath Farm School.  Under the leadership of the new, forward-thinking headteacher, the school and its team are currently in the process of redesigning and creating a purposeful and unique ‘Heath Farm Curriculum’ that fully meets the holistic needs of our students.

We are an independent SEN school that offers a unique and stimulating environment where every pupil is able to make outstanding progress in their personal development and enjoy success in their education.

Our students present with a wide range of needs, including social and emotional issues, learning difficulties, mental health problems and associated conditions.  However they are able to enjoy extraordinary outcomes and be happy at school.  All classes have excellent ratios of at least 2:1 students to adults.  Typically classes have between 6-9 students.

As an independent SEN school we are far removed from the toxicity and bureaucracy found in so many other schools and we are able to abandon ineffective and traditional methods in favour of new, highly effective and tailored initiatives – essentially we do what we know is right for the students in our care.

Acorn Education & Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist education and residential care for vulnerable children and young people. As part of Outcomes First Group we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

Why join us?

We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education & care. Our benefits package includes free parking, shopping discounts and cashback via our ‘Rewards Hub’, and access to content on mindfulness, fitness, recipes and much more as part of our ‘Your Wellbeing Matters’ programme.  We also offer ‘family day’ incentives to allow time off during term time.  As well as opportunities for internal promotion, you will have access to high-quality Continuing Professional Development to help pursue your own personal goals. We also offer accredited training programmes including Diplomas and NVQs, supplemented by ongoing learning opportunities.

Ultimately, all of our roles give you the opportunity to enrich the lives of young people and make a positive difference.

Who are we looking for?

Above all else we are looking for someone with the right attitude and outlook on what education should be about. Ultimately this is about an unconditional love and care for our students, a commitment to meeting their needs and providing them with the best education possible, and a passion for developing and demonstrating the skills students will need in order to be successful in later life.

If you are a professional with the ability and ambition to deliver outstanding learning for children and young people with special education needs, then this is the role for you.
