Introducing Autism Unpacked: A SEN Podcast

There’s always more to learn, more questions to ask and more conversations to have when it comes to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

That’s why we’re pleased to introduce the Acorn Education community to Autism Unpacked: A SEN Podcast – bringing together honest conversations, expert insight, practical advice and real-life experiences around the topics that matter to families, educators and professionals.

What is Autism Unpacked?

Autism Unpacked began as a podcast dedicated to exploring the realities of autism, with families, educators and professionals sharing their knowledge and experiences on topics including diagnosis, mental health, education, relationships and family life.

Now, the conversation is growing.

While autism will always be at the heart of Autism Unpacked, the podcast is expanding its focus to explore the broader world of Special Educational Needs.

From the school environment and behaviour to wellbeing, family experiences and practical advice, Autism Unpacked aims to make important conversations around SEN accessible to everyone.

Whether you’re a parent or carer looking for advice, an educator supporting children and young people, a clinician or professional working across education and care, or simply interested in learning more, we’ll be navigating SEN together.

The next chapter begins with Series 3 of Autism Unpacked, launching on 7th September.

For the first time, we’ll be widening the conversation beyond autism to explore more of the topics that matter across the SEN community – while continuing to put the experiences of children, young people, families and those who support them at the heart of the conversation.
